We highly recommend sitting in the conservatory, which offers breathtaking views of the Amstel. The Amstel Hotel is also the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion!
Dignita Hoftuin

As true foodies, this place is really high on our list for a delicious breakfast. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this charming café is a true gem. As you step into this canal-side mansion and its secret garden, you’ll immediately understand why we adore this place. They offer a wide range of breakfast options, prepared with organic and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. You can enjoy your meal in their glasshouse-style restaurant or in their sunny green garden.
TIP >> If you want to do a fun activity after your breakfast, check out the Amsterdam Museum! It’s right next to Dignita Hoftuin and this place is no ordinary museum. It’s where history meets a modern twist. Get ready to unravel the fascinating story of Amsterdam’s evolution.
Lagom

Located under the pink arches of the building on Sint Antoniesbreestraat, you’ll find a Swedish cafe with fantastic food! We come here often for a morning coffee and a focaccia with salmon. It’s perfectly situated right in the city center.
Kessens
Open from 08:30 AM – Wednesday to Sunday
The owner of the restaurant comes from the family who runs the famous patisserie Holtkamp in Amsterdam. They believe in enjoying life to the fullest and contribute to that philosophy by serving great food! Always bustling with activity and great vibes. We love spending time here (on the terrace) during the weekends.
De Laatste Kruimel
Open from 8 AM
You’ve got to know about it, or you’ll miss this little gem! Scones, brownies, carrot cake – they’ve got it all. You can also grab the freshest sandwiches here. While seating may be limited, if you manage to snag a couple of chairs on the mini balcony along the canal, you’re in luck! Perfect for takeout as well.

The Cottage

If we had to pick just one place for breakfast in the city, it would definitely be The Cottage. This charming little spot exudes a welcoming, cozy vibe that’s hard to resist. What’s great is that they not only serve breakfast and brunch but also have delightful options for lunch and dinner. And, oh, let’s not forget about their authentic Sunday Roast every Sunday. Whether you prefer to savor classic dishes inside the restaurant or enjoy your meal on their lovely terrace in the heart of Oost, it’s a must-visit. And speaking of must-tries, their daily changing scones are simply irresistible.
Baretto Neighborhood Cafe

Baretto Neighborhood Café is the ultimate place to kickstart your day. Their menu is Italian inspired. And let’s not forget to talk about their cakes – they are AMAZING. As foodies we can’t resist stopping by for a delicious slice of carrot cake. Baretto has a magical touch when it comes to sweet treats.

Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is like entering a botanical wonderland. As you step inside, you’re greeted by a jungle of various beautiful tropical plants. You can take a seat between the towering palms and enjoy your coffee surrounded by their presence. Or, you can also choose to enjoy your breakfast in their restaurant, which offers great city views along the water.

LOCALS All Day Brunch

If you love Acai bowls, you should definitely visit LOCALS, the all-day brunch spot! They offer an international menu with dishes like scrambled eggs truffle, shakshuka, veggie sandwich and more. Their interior is truly aesthetic.
Moods Coffee & Brunch
Open from 7 AM during weekdays, 8 AM during weekends
This charming breakfast spot takes pride in offering a thoughtfully curated selection of seasonal, healthy and freshly prepared options.
De Wasserette

A staple in De Pijp, just off Albert Cuyp. They serve specialty coffee and delightful breakfast dishes. It’s the perfect spot for early birds, opening its doors at 7:30 AM
Vinnies
Open from 07:30 AM – Wednesday to Sunday
Imagine salmon, rye bread and poached eggs. The quality of the food at Vinnies is outstanding and the atmosphere is exactly what you’re looking for during breakfast. The coffee they serve comes from Bocca. What more could you ask for 🙂
Coffee & Coconuts
Open from 8 AM
Like they say: a cafe where the sunsets are endless. It’s the perfect place to soak in some sunny vibes! The food is delicious; grab a coconut and settle into one of the sofas. It’s also great for larger groups, although it can get a bit busy on weekends.
Amsterdam West

Situated in the heart of the city, it offers a diverse breakfast menu, from classic favorites to contemporary choices, all accompanied by freshly brewed coffee. The pancakes are our favorite choice!
Loof
Open from 8 AM – closed on Mondays
Oh yes, when it comes to bakeries, our team will definitely mention Loof! It’s a sourdough bakery that not only offers bread, pastries, sandwiches and focaccias but also serves up coffee and cold drinks. However, what we also really like is the unique vibe. Picture stained glass, books, wooden stools and locals gathering. We’re fans!
Collins
Open from 09:30 AM – Thursday to Monday
When we first walked in, it felt like stumbling upon a hidden treasure! A cozy neighborhood café, it indulges in the delights of Melbourne’s kitchen. Another great thing is that it’s just a stone’s throw away from the Jordaan district. It has become our go-to spot for leisurely long weekend brunches and let me tell you, the kimchi Farinata is an absolute game-changer.
Ps. They also have a nice location in De Pijp area named Little Collins.
Amsterdam North
NEXT NDSM
Open from 09:30 AM – Wednesday to Sunday
This all-day hotspot in Amsterdam Noord is a must-add to your list. This cosmopolitan bar/restaurant is the perfect addition to the NDSM terrain. With its expansive windows, you get a fantastic view of Amsterdam’s skyline, making it the ideal spot for breakfast. And in the summer, they also offer a sunny terrace!
Cafe Restaurant Metro

With your own bakery inside, you can’t go wrong, right? This place has such a nice and industrial vibe. Just thinking about the brioche toast with soft-boiled egg, miso mayonnaise and chili oil makes our mouths water again.
