In our opinion, one of the best terraces in town! It’s quite big and you have sun until around 4 PM. It’s always full of locals having drinks, the vibe is just great until really late. We live around the corner, so this is one of our go-to places. They have many great food options. Our favorite for lunch? The ‘çilbir’ with poached eggs, labneh, tomatoes and pita.
Cafe de Ceuvel
This eco-friendly cafe is a hidden gem. You’ll only discover it if you know about it and that’s exactly what we love! Located next to the water in Amsterdam North, the cafe offers an organic menu, consciously sourced coffee and craft beers. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy nature and if you want you can even take a dive.
Café Wester
Right in the city center next to the canal you can soak in some sun. Imagine tables and chairs set up right next to the bridge, creating a perfect spot to relax and observe the people of Amsterdam.
Café Hesp
Right next to the Amstel River, you will find Hesp. Amazing laid-back vibes and for locals an integral part of this street. They offer a really big terrace and have over 20 (local) beers on tap and quite some options on the menu. All-day sun guaranteed!
Bonnie
A typical Amsterdam brown café but with a trendy edge. They open as early as 8 in the morning and it’s a delightful spot to sit in the sunshine. We love coming here for a good lunch.
Bar Kosta
Sunshine all day long! Despite its somewhat special location right next to the road, I promise you’ll still love it. It’s always bustling, with good vibes and great drinks :).
Vessel
Perfect for a morning coffee with a view in the sun! This waterfront spot not only has a beautiful terrace but also a really big jetty. It’s the perfect location to escape the busy city vibes. Oh, and the croissants are a must-try.
Waterkant
If you’re looking for some tropical vibes, look no further! Waterkant, as the name suggests, is located next to the water and has Surinamese influences. Enjoy multicultural snacks and drinks while chilling by the waterside or at picnic tables.They also throw some great parties on the weekends. Good vibes only & sun all day long!
Hannekes Boom
Close to Amsterdam Central Station, you’ll find this terrace right next to the IJ river. It’s a spot for drinks, dancing, wine/beer tastings, playing games and much more!
Gent aan de Schinkel
Just behind Vondelpark, you’ll discover this little local gem. We absolutely love it here! The atmosphere is wonderfully laid-back and they offer a simple, easygoing menu. It’s sunny from the afternoon until evening.
Vergulden Eenhoorn
In a farmhouse dating back to 1702, you’ll discover the Vergulden Eenhoorn. A fantastic restaurant, but they also have a great garden where you can enjoy a sunny drink in the heart of Amsterdam East.
Hangar Amsterdam
With a 300m2 terrace right on the IJ river, Hangar North is a must on our list! The restaurant is housed in an industrial warehouse with a chic vibe. Think corrugated panels adorned with white tablecloths. We love it! They also opened up a new location in Amsterdam East with a big and sunny terrace.
Bar Grill Marathonweg Amsterdam
On the corner of Marathonweg, you’ll find Bar Grill Marathonweg. They have the perfect spot right on the corner, which means sunshine all day! It’s always quite busy here. Are you in for a tasty typical beef croquette with mustard on white bread?
‘t Blauwe Theehuis
In the heart of the Vondelpark, you’ll discover this ultimate sunny spot. Simply perfect for a drink or two in the city center, yet still immersed in nature. With a laid-back vibe, self-service and an absolute favorite among locals and visitors.
Pacific
A huge sunny terrace, nestled on the industrial Westergasterrein right next to Westerpark. There are plenty of reasons to explore Westergasterrein, from theater and exhibitions to Pacific! Indulge in unique craft beers and on weekends dance the night away!
