What’s Happening in Amsterdam in November 2026?

It’s autumn, and the weather is definitely giving autumn too! But luckily, there’s still so much to do in Amsterdam, and as always, we’ve rounded up our favourites for you this month. Harmony, a deep listening experience – Nov 17 – 22

Harmony brings ten Music Ceremonies to Gashouder Amsterdam. Six days of live music, ranging from contemporary classical to ambient and electronic, with piano, cello, grand pianos, synthesisers and choirs.

Harmony is an intentionally created space for deep listening. During each Music Ceremony, the musicians perform at the heart of Gashouder, surrounded by an audience sitting or lying on a continuous landscape of mattresses. Phones remain in lockers, allowing 1,000 people to listen together in silence and give the music their full attention.

Design Icons Amsterdam – November 8

Discover over 4,000 m² of vintage furniture, lighting and design classics, from Mid-Century Modern to Bauhaus and Memphis. Expect iconic pieces by designers like Charles Eames and Verner Panton, alongside unique finds from independent vintage dealers. The place to hunt for something truly one of a kind.  Arrive early to get first pick!

Shoot your shot with happn – November 19

Polaroid photos at Amsterdam bars are a beloved local tradition, and happn is giving it a dating twist. Forget the dating apps for a night and meet your Crush the old-fashioned way.

Spot someone you like? Get a Polaroid taken of yourself, write your number on it and hand it to your Crush at the bar. Who knows where that little photo might lead?

Comedy Night, Warming Up Festival. It’s Getting Hot in Here – November 19

Climate change can feel like a pretty heavy topic, but sometimes laughter is the best way to deal with it. It’s Getting Hot in Here kicks off the Warming Up Festival at Tolhuistuin with an evening of English-language stand-up comedy exploring climate anxiety and the absurdities of the world we live in. Expect sharp jokes and fresh perspectives from four comedians: Phoebe Perry, Sjoerd Scott, Ronan Brosnan and Nadine Froughi, hosted by Rashi Agarwal. There’s even a fun quiz with prizes in between sets.

Yayoi Kusama @ Stedelijk Museum

Yayoi Kusama has arrived at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam! See her iconic polka dots, colourful sculptures and huge installations, including an incredible new infinity room filled with lights, reflections and endless patterns. It’s one of those exhibitions that feels completely different from a regular museum visit. On until 17 January 2027.

International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam – November 12 until 22

IDFA returns to Amsterdam with 11 days of thought-provoking documentaries and immersive experiences. Catch special film screenings at Carré (tickets) or explore interactive art, VR and digital experiences at IDFA DocLab (tickets). The DocLab exhibition is free to enter! ARTIS Late Afternoon Tickets – Weekdays from 16:00, up to 50% off

With ARTIS Late Afternoon Tickets, you can explore ARTIS-Park for just €15, or visit Micropia or the Groote Museum for €9. Discover animals, explore the world of microbes or learn more about our connection with nature, all for less. The tickets are valid from 16:00 on weekdays, and on Thursdays you can visit the Groote Museum until 22:00.

Warming Up Festival – November 21

Spend a full day at Tolhuistuin exploring climate, culture and creativity. From wild foraging and making your own essential oils to talks on climate justice, allyship and the future of our planet, there’s plenty to discover. The programme also features live girl punk by Girls to the Front, followed by a party with Yusu Selectors. Pick the workshops and talks that interest you, or stay all day for a mix of ideas, inspiration and music.

The Night Watch Lives @ Micropia – From November 11

Ever wondered what lives on Rembrandt’s The Night Watch? ARTIS-Micropia and the Rijksmuseum are teaming up to reveal the tiny organisms living on one of the Netherlands’ most famous paintings. At Micropia, you can explore a life-size reproduction of the masterpiece and discover the microscopic life found on its surface. It’s a fascinating look at the hidden world around us, proving that even a nearly 400-year-old painting is full of life you can’t see with the naked eye.
