Festivals
Throughout the year Westerpark hosts many festivals. From food festivals offering food from around the world to dance parties, there’s always something exciting happening in this neighborhood.
- Rollende Keukens: A food lover’s paradise with around 100 food trucks. The event transforms the Westergasfabriek area into one big open air restaurant where you can try all kinds of international cuisines. Expect live music and a lively atmosphere! It’s one of our favorite events of the year. It is typically held in May. For more info, click here.
- Het Vrije Westen: Festival on Liberation Day. Here we celebrate freedom with music, food and cultural activities. You can enjoy live performances, delicious food and entertainment (for all ages). It’s always celebrated on the 5th of May. For more info, click here.
- Milkshake Festival: This festival is all about embracing diversity and acceptance. In July, it draws people from everywhere with its amazing vibe and diverse lineup. You can enjoy music, art and performances, celebrating individuality and freedom. It’s a fun and inclusive event where everyone can dance, express themselves and spread love. - Awakenings at the Westergasfabriek: This is a huge electronic music festival. People from everywhere come to hear the DJs. The festival has a cool industrial setting that adds to the vibe. It’s all about enjoying great tunes and having the best time! For more info, click here.
- Summer Breeze Latin Nights: This is one of our fav! It’s a weekly salsa party. Enjoy tropical vibes, various Latin music styles and dance moves, workshops, cocktails and food at Westergasterras every Thursday between June 1st and August 31st! More info, click here.
Sunday Market Westergas
The Sunday Market, held every first Sunday of the month at Westerpark, is an amazing spot to find all sorts of crafts, delicious food and a nice vibe. This market attracts locals and tourists with a diverse array of stalls. You can enjoy live music and entertainment and there are many nice terraces. Restaurants & Cafés
As we mentioned before Westerpark has so much to offer like many nice restaurants, cafes and hotspots. We summed up the best places to get food and drinks at Westerpark for you.
Rainarai: Experience the flavors of Nomadic cuisine at Rainarai. This unique restaurant offers delicious meals like couscous, vegetables, fish, meat and so on. At this place you can dine in traditional style, seated on low tables adorned with cushions and rugs, or go for a more formal setting at tables dressed with linen.
Bakkerswinkel Westerpark: Start your day right with a visit to Bakkerswinkel Westerpark. Indulge in freshly baked goods, amazing breakfast options and artisanal coffee in a cozy setting.
Brouwerij Troost Westergas: Beer enthusiasts will love Brouwerij Troost Westergas. This craft brewery serves a wide selection of locally brewed beers, along with delicious pub fare to accompany your brew.
Cantine de Caron: For a taste of French cuisine, head to Cantine de Caron. Enjoy classic dishes prepared with a modern twist, all served in a chic and inviting atmosphere.
Restaurant Smelt (only during winter): Does ‘cheese fondue extraordinaire’ sound like something you’d enjoy? This is the best place in Amsterdam to enjoy a cheese fondue & local experience.
Espressofabriek: Great brewed coffee and espresso made from premium beans, paired with delectable pastries perfect for take-away.
Pacific: We love the big terrace at Pacific! You can enjoy the sun and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On weekends you can go clubbing.
Mossel & Gin: Treat yourself to a seafood feast at Mossel & Gin. With delicious mussels, tasty fish dishes, and a variety of top-notch gins to choose from you will have a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
Westergasterras: With its beautiful outdoor terrace facing the park, Westergasterras is the perfect place to enjoy a drink. Very famous among locals and can be busy.
The Park Itself
Westerpark is so green; we love walking around here! Walk around at ‘De Bretten’ it’s a 12.5 KM walk with open reed beds, woodland, creeks and a whole lot of remarkable birds. During the summer, Westerpark is the perfect place for barbecues. Everyone gathers for a fun picnic and drinks.
Cinema
The Ketelhuis is such a cool spot in Westerpark and it’s all about movies. It was once a factory making electricity, but now it’s a place to watch films. You can come here to see all kinds of movies, from old classics to new releases. You can grab some popcorn or snacks and settle in for a movie night with friends. Fabrique des Lumières
See art come to life at Fabrique des Lumières. Surround yourself with projections of your favorite artistic masterpieces on walls up to 17-meters high. This digital exhibition brings to life the genius of renowned painters of the Netherlands. Get your tickets here.
Clubbing
At Westergas in Westerpark, you can find some cool places for clubbing. The Gashouder is one of the most popular venues, hosting various events and club nights throughout the year. Another very popular place for dancing is WesterUnie. It’s a big club with loud music and a cool atmosphere. Next to it is WesterLiefde, which is another spot for parties and events. There’s also Pacific, a bar where you can grab drinks and dance to live music. And Radio Radio is the ultimate music café where it’s all about banging DJ sets and radio shows.
Ton Ton Club
The Ton Ton Club is not just any ordinary club – it’s filled with all kinds of cool arcade games and pinball machines. You can have really nice drinks, food and play games like Pac-Man and air hockey. It’s a great place to end your day!
